Lib Tech skate banana with MTX or Lib Tech TRS with MTX & BT

I have been riding on the east coast for three years now and mostly stick to resort areas. I am also just learning how to jump on small kickers and stuff. I am 5 11", 178lbs.
Been thinking of buying either a Lib Tech skate banana with MTX or a the 2008 Lib tech TRS with both MTX and banana technology, although the new trs is almost impossible to find.
Does the skate banana 159 have enough stiffness to free ride on bigger mountains like Breckenridge and A-basin if I decide to stick to the designated resort area and don't go out of bounds? I am also going to Jackson Hole in feb, I heard that the terrain is really gnarly. Will the skate banana be good enough for that kind of steep mountain?
If not, I much rather wait for the Lib Tech TRS with MTX & BT to be back in stock.
any suggestions?

Any banana will do

I've been riding a 152 skate banana for the past two biggest snow months we've had in Telluride for a long time. Since getting on the banana, I haven't ridden ANY of my other 3 new boards and that includes the fish. The banana works in anything and it will make most riders better riders, in my opinion. The only thing you want to keep in mind is you don't want to ride it in the back seat. Stay in the sweet spot in the center and the thing rips ANY terrain, from hard pack to DEEP pow. Don't believe the nay sayers, but then again, the less people that ride bananas, the better I look. Oh yea, don't worry about stiffness, the board stiffens when needed and is soft when appropriate if that makes any sense.
If anyone doesn't like their 156 skate banana or TRS, please let me buy it from you, I want to make a banana-split board ASAP, then I can sell my brand new Prior Khyber 156 split board, it's gonna go for $700 and it's been ridden once, anyone? Anyone?

Lib-Tech - Comparison of skate banana & TRS & technologies

Lib-Tech came to Whistler today with their demo tent and a bunch of next seasons boards. I tried out the Lib-Tech Skate Banana 156 and the TRS with regular camber 157 and next seasons TRS with banana tech in a 154. It was a super sunny day so I mostly bombed groomers, went into the trees a little but not really any pow around and did a few booters in the park (360's, grabs, ollies, ect)

I would disagree with PowderKeg about the boards with banana tech & MTX being not good on fast groomers. I found the TRS sweet with banana tech and MTX. I love bombing groomers and believe me I did not hold back on this board once I got in the swing of it. I found the first half a run a little wierd. It feels like the board piots or spins a little with the banana tech at first. This is understandable as there is also a convex (rocker) shape across the width of the board so more of the base contacts the snow rather that the edge. Ie. it take a little more movement from edge to edge. I also oversteard and fell over a little the first half of my 1st run but this was mostly due to getting used to the banana tech and also foolin around trying to see how hard I could carve a tight turn with the magna tech edges. Once I got going I found the board very stable and loads of fun. I found that on my regualar board I would ride more on the base when bombing runs very fast whereas here on the TRS with banana it feels very good to carve a lot and travel on the edge more. I tried out the TRS with regular camber and magna tech and honestly I didn't like it as much as with banana tech. Banana tech felt like I could carve tigher turns with real ease. I was pulling awesome tight down unwighteded carves. With the regualar camber TRS I had to use a lot more body wieght to flex the camber to try and carve tight carve turns. Also the small ammount of extra movement from edge to edge on the banana tech board made me feel more stable as carving on heelside edge on real bumpy stuff there is more space my toe edge is off the snow and less chace of it catching. Same goes off jumps. I actually caught my toe edge off a jump going from the banana tech back to regular camber TRS.

As for the difference between the skate banana and the TRS banana tech I would say there is more softness in the nose and tail on the Skate Banana easier to butter and play on. TRS is still soft nose and tail and okay to play on but just not as noodley and full buttery. Big difference under the feet. On the TRS there are stiffening stuff under my feet and it really feels solid and wikked fun bombing runs and holding tight carves even in a bit of chop. The skate banana feels softer under my feet and I think that I maybe couldn't carve quite as tight at lease it felt a bit less solid bombing. Both very fun and amazing boards. It's still good to go fast on it just not quite the rock solid feel of the TRS. I think the TRS is has a bit more power for ollieing too. Again both are good though.

I think I will buy next year's TRS with banana when they are available. Anyways that's my 25c with. Take 'er easy fellas.

Banana Tech

Banana Technology is new and radically different than tradiational cambered boards. Reverse camber combined with the magne traction control points allow the board to adjust the contact lenth for the given terrain. On the groomed stuff it rides really short and twitchy, turns on a dime. Not for high speed groomers; however, in the powder it rides like a long board with the added bennifit of a pre bend nose and tail. This keeps the nose from taking a dive in the powder. Therefore, the board performs like a champ in the park allowing for tricks only a short jib board can do and a godsend in the powder, finally I can ride switch in the powder. The only drawback is, if you like the carving the groomed runs, this is not the board for you. For those of you who have ridden this board and not liked it, its a different ride and takes some getting used too. I have 30 days on my two TRS's with banana and absolutely love them. but then the ridding that I do is 80% powder, 10% park, and 10% groomed (only to get back to a lift) so I'll keep that in mind.

Skate Banannas Suck

SKate bananas are terrible boards buy a signal there way sick

///™

i am disappointed by both the trs and the skate.

the skate delams and/or breaks with ease and the trs NEEDS to have an extra insert pack to be considered a "total ripper series (or all around shred stick)" as it is/or appears to be marketed.

the trs SHOULD have an off-set stance option for powder (in other words a seven pack of inserts in the back versus lib's current six-pack of micro inserts).

just my 2.5 cents.

Sk8 Naner

My friend let me ride his skate naner52 all of this week. Its super aewesome, its been icy up here in Ohio and its never lost an edge, id reccomend that over any board, even though I haven't riden the TRS.

Prepare For World Domination

I have the Skate Banana 156 a

I have the Skate Banana 156 and the TRS Banana 159. The TRS is definitely more of an all-mountain board. It is stiffer and has more MT than the SB. I have been amazed at how well it holds on edge on hard pack and how sick it is in the pow. SB is good too, but more geared towards park I would say.

when you say that the skate b

when you say that the skate banana has less MT than TRS...does that mean it has shallower kinks or less number of kinks for the same board length?

so i am guessing that failing

so i am guessing that failing to find a TRS with banana tech, I should be ok with a skate banana 159 for free riding if I keep my speed under control?

you will be stoked on either

you will be stoked on either one.

TRS MTX w/ Banana

159's are sold out nationwide for the year - I was in the same dilemma as you. Didn't really like this year's TRS graphic, knew of a place that had 4 TRS 157's left over from last year and got the last one. I like last year's graphic WAY better anyhow.
I have seen a lot of pictures this year of dudes riding Bananas in trees and pow though. So they can't be that noodley Just look through the site.

Banana = quiver killer... mine broke, looking for a blue 156.

I'd pay good green cash for the Blue 156 - impossible to find. The rail rip was just early season foolery. I'm about 6'0" and 180, and the 156 rode perfect for me. The thing is not a gimmick. It's like the toe strap, it's a great idea and it works. Stiffens on landings to feel like a 159, butters like Aunt Jemima. Holds speed just fine. Like I say, anyone has a 156 they don't like, I'll buy her, and love her.
