SUPERPOST™: GZA at Body English

GZA SNOWBOARD GZZAAAAA.

Words: Tawnya Schultz / Photos: SNOWBOARD Mag

To end an epic week of tradeshow shenanigans SNOWBOARD Mag killed it once again and brought Wu Tang’s notorious GZA to Body English at the Hard Rock. After putting the word out all week, the 800 capacity Body English club filled up in no time with another 300 heads stacked out the door anxious to make it in. This was the golden ticket remember; the party that would go down in history and the party that if you missed would fill you with regret. With help from Forum, Skull Candy, Atmosphere, Frank 151, and Coors, we did it major. As the doors opened, DJ A_Dog and DJ Russell provided the opening beats, and it was on!

First of all the club is legit. Body English is posh meets medieval with black leather booths, red and gold velvet chairs, and icy chandeliers. The vibe itself in the place was insane. It seemed that everyone was having the time of their lives; besides the fact that it was nearly impossible to get a drink even with four bars and bottle service.

Burton’s signature DJ’s, Russell and A_Dog, started the night off proper mixing only the illest jams setting the mood and moving people’s feet. Anticipating GZA’s arrival the majority of the crowd hit the dance floor double fisting drink hands up in the air. Some gnarly chic attempted to jump on stage and woo the crowd with her booty shaking skills only to be booed off for lack of, let’s just say, class.

Soon after GZA and his posse hit the stage hard and everyone went crazy throwing their W’s in the sky. “Wu Tang! Wu Tang!,” the crowd just couldn’t get enough. Some idiot threw ice on stage in the middle of the set and GZA called him out pointing as security ran over to kick the kid out. That was pretty much an amazing highlight. There were a few other minor scuffles but for the most part the night was a huge success.

The next day word was out that it was the best party of the trade show and that SIA hasn’t had a party like that in years. Sorry for those who couldn’t get in including Jake Burton who I guess waited for a few and then bounced. Thank you to the Hard Rock for giving us free reign and trusting what we do. Also a major thanks to GZA for coming out and of course our sponsors: Forum, Skull Candy, Atmosphere, Frank 151, and Coors beer for hooking up the bev’s. Enjoy the pics.
