A-Basin Attackers

Yesterday was my first taste of nice Colorado mountain weather. It's been cold as Hell here all winter. Yesterday was different, though. Sunny, no wind (a rarity) and temps were in the high 30's.

Grigsby and I decided to head up. Choice.

Given the temps, it wasn't nice and fluffy in most spots, but it was good...damn good. Griggs didn't really go for it. The landing wasn't all that good.

We spent most of the day in the Montezuma Bowl, which opened about a month ago. The bowl doubled the size of A-Basin's terrain, and on a powder day would be so amazing. Yesterday, the sun beamed down on the bowl all day. It was the perfect spot.

I was stoked to get into a few good spots with a mellow hike.

Little rocks are fun.

The far right side of the bowl had all these perfect natural butter pads all over the place. Also fun.

I think Grigsby hit every rock (in a good way).

The views of the Continental Divide are something everyone should see.

After a bunch of runs in the bowl, we headed to check out the frontside action.

Car Ramrod.

Token CO smokeshack photo.

There was this sweet ice sculpture at the midway lodge. The smell of the burgers emitting from this place was insane.

Now you know how I got my name, thanks to Monty and Chris Roach for that. I love the Basin, so stoked you got out there. Has any riders done the Grizzly Gap this year?

Butter.

Not too sure

if anyone has done Grizzly Gap this year, but Chris Roach and I do share the same birthday, but he's 10 years older. I was stoked on that when I was a kid. Transworld put out this calendar/poster deal, and Chris had a big poster in it, including all of his vitals. April 26th. Good stuff. I was more of a Monty fan, though, since I had a Hooger Booger. I believe that Chris was on Santa Cruz at the time...I think. It was years and years ago. The Basin's trees are where it's at, though. Super steep, cliffed out in spots. So good. Can't wait to go there after the next storm.

the roach...

...so stoked to have met & shared beers with him this past vegas. rankin, wastell, buretta, aaron...great crew. man, i just wish i could have bone dawg'd out by taking my old as hell poster of him for an autograph...grass that shit!!!

Yeah Basher!

The basin looked fun as hell! It was nice enough in Boulder yesterday for those of us that had to work. Hope you were on the Turbo Dream, its tough to tell though.

Unknown HUT?!

Geez...I shread the basin all the time, and i dont think i have made it to that hut. What trail is that one off? Something close to the bottom?

Hidden gem...

It's near the bottom. I don't recall exactly where it's at, but yes, near the bottom. We just came across it while riding through the trees.
