Bear Mountain Resort blew up this past weekend with the inaugural etnies Goofy vs. Regular Snow event and if that wasn’t enough, there was the unveiling of JP Walker’s Signature Jib and a free performance by Wu Tang’s Ghostface Killah on the sun deck. The course had three back to back jumps, a kinked rail, a staircase, a tube jam gap, JP’s Signature Jib, and the biggest hip Southern California has ever witnessed. With a total purse prize of $50,000 to give away we were sure to see competitors go all out. GvR Snow couldn’t have been on a better day with the sunny skies all day, oh no wait, cloudy skies…wait, heavy snowfall coming…nope, sleet coming dow…crap, rain coming down. Yup, we had all that in one day, but for the most part it was sunny.
Brad Alband
Props to Clayton Shoemaker for building one of the best set ups at Bear Mountain. Due to some storm systems that came through earlier in the week, he and the park crew spent all week working countless hours on the GvR course so that it may be in tip top shape. All this work meant no sleep for Clayton and yet he still managed to not only compete in the etnies GvR Snow but to also slay the course.
Massive hip.
Dave Fortin was the only rider that attempted and cleared the massive hip. Busting out a 1080 during one of his runs.
Robbie Walker
Juuso Laivisto came out on top earning first place and MVP at the first etnies GvR Snow.
