Hey guys,
I was just wondering what snap, pop, and pow meant. I think pow means powder, but I'm not sure about the other two. I've heard it used quite a bit. Thanks. (BTW i tried searching, but there are too many articles referring to them).
dog..lol you dont need to study different words that snowboarders use jus so u can sound tight
i didn't want to sound tight. i just wanted to know what they meant.
thanks for the replies. also, when are there some good sales? I know there are some really good deals going on right now as the season winds down, but are there any other better times to get gear?
I was thinking of trying out a banana skate, union forces or datas, and salomon dialogue or synapse. I think i'll stick with freeriding. i weight 155 lbs and i'm 5'10". Should I rent them from a "local" (the only shop with the above mentioned goods is like an hour and 35 minute drive away) and then buy online? -_-;; i know it's kind of a cheap ass move to pull, but i don't think i can buy them unless they're on a sale.
i dont know how long youve been riding for, but if you dont know what pop or pow is and dont have youre own setup already, it cant have been long. so you dont need to go out and buy all that hot shit yet. just cause its some of the best gear for an intermediate to expert rider, doesnt mean its good to learn on. save your money, get a cheap set-up, figure out what you personally need from your gear, then start stepping up to better stuff.
You're absolutely right. I haven't been riding long (hence the title) and I was initially considering spending far less on equipment. But I think first of all, the only expensive part of my potential set up is the board as the rest seem to be on ebay and on online sales. Also, I was a debating with a couple of people of whether or not newbs need better boards and I don't mean better as in ultra responsive, but better as in better all around boards. I'm still not quite sure. I feel like newbs need better boards for better habits, but then I also feel like newbs shouldn't spend a lot of money.
But again, you're right. Maybe I should go for a lower end board, although I'd still like to try out banana tech and MTX. I think I can get the boots and bindings for about 250 - 300, especially right now.
Anyways, again, thanks for the replies.
make sure that you get good boots. its the most important part of your setup. board and bindings are important, but if your feet are in pain it wont matter how sick your board is. make sure to get the shop guy/girl to fit you right and try on a lot of boots.
You got it, pow means powder. Snap and pop refer to how good a board ollies off the surface of the snow.
Hope that helps.

I came across this ridiculously long (and sometimes idiotic) list of snowboard "slang" the other day. It was pretty good for a laugh but it also might help ya. Good luck
