New Advanced Triple Jump Line at Cardrona

Cardrona TRUE_TABLE

Bigger, Bolder and Safer.

Cardrona has announced they will have three new jumps in their terrain park. These jumps are of 11m, 14m and 17m in length, and have been built in a safer “true table” design with little or no “step down”.

This means there is less height versus length compared to a step down, resulting in a safer jump due to less landing impact. A “true table” has a jump ramp that finishes at the same height as the start of the landing, whereas a “step down” has a ramp finish that is much higher than the start of the landing resulting in much more height in the jump.

These are the first “true table” jumps in New Zealand, and will result in snowboarders and skiers learning tricks more quickly, more safely and more spectacularly due to the confidence they inspire.

Advanced and pro skiers and snowboarders will be able to execute more technical tricks knowing they have more time in the air and less impact on landing.

The jumps are in the advanced terrain park, the Heavy Metal Park, and will replace the three step down jumps and 1 rail platform. This rail platform has been relocated to the bottom of the park. The jumps have already been completed, at a cost of $49,000.

"With such a strong international and local freestyle base at Cardrona we needed to keep at the leading edge of terrain park design", says John Melville, Cardrona Terrain Park Designer. "I sat down and designed these with people like Jossi Wells (NZ X Games medal winner) and Tom Willmot (NZ Snowboard head coach) to ensure they are to a top international standard".

Word up

The problem for most resorts is that true tables require more snow to build. Generally, more snow=more money for the construction of each jump. It's cheap insurance against the greater possibility of falling an extra ten feet, though. Sure, they don't look as big in photos, but that's not the point. Lawsuits are going to start shutting resorts down, so we gotta re-think ways to have the same amount of fun, while covering our asses at the same time.

red bull gap session

every resort should catch onto this trend. the jumps are so much more fun and safe. the gap session jump this year looks really good. http://www.gapinfo.de/cgi-local/nph-cam-schanze.pl
check the webcam. the wall is only a little intimidating lol

it is not the safest table top

You should talk to Klaus Marco to see how the safest jump should look like... Landing much higher than take off, so you are not too high in the air. Something like a big air at X-games, but without a gap.

someone should inform Northst

someone should inform Northstar about this, they are still under the impression two story high kickers to flat landings are fun.

REVISIT THE WU TANG LAUNCHER

We attempted the same concept in Breck in 1992-93
We used multiple take off kickers to have different jump distances
WU TANG MUTHA FUCKA..
The problem is usually the terrain and availability of the park staff to locate a true table top on a flat area with a optimal drop away fall line at the landing area.

Step downs are dangerous especially in hard snow areas.

Rasta Cones for everybody!!

hell yeah...

...i remember the WU-TANG! C chair days...
