PAINT, PLANT AND SNOWSHOE FOR BEAVER CREEK’S GREEN DAY MARCH 9
Beaver Creek, Colo.—March 7, 2008—Green-minded families and friends can leave their mark in paint on a large mural to be created as part of Beaver Creek’s Green Day environmental awareness celebration Sunday, March 9. The finished mural will be displayed at the resort. Guests can also donate to the U.S. Forest Service’s “Plant-A-Tree” program. Each dollar donated will plant one tree.
Complimentary “Keep Winter White” guided snowshoes tours of McCoy Park will depart from the Beaver Creek Nordic Center at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Guests should arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour to be outfitted with equipment. Kids should be at least six years of age and willing to walk for one hour or more. Guests will learn about the surrounding forests and environment.
The Beaver Creek Environmental Committee will provide information on the resort’s year-round environmental initiatives including its Certified Green Restaurant and IdleWise programs. Guests can also talk with representatives from the Forest Service and meet Smokey the Bear.
The Raptor Education Foundation will have a live birds of prey demonstration from 12-3 p.m.
Guests can enjoy Coleman All Natural burgers at the “Appetite for Life” tent located in the village. Appetite for Life is a commitment to serve all natural beef and poultry and organics in Beaver Creek’s owned and managed restaurants.
“Green Day invites guests to ask questions and learn more about Beaver Creek’s environmental management system and year-round efforts to improve air quality, conserve natural resources and minimize its visual impact. The mural, “Plant-A-Tree” program, snowshoe tours and other activities are designed to raise awareness and encourage guests to work together to make a difference,” said Zach Tibodeau, environmental coordinator for Beaver Creek.
Green Day will take place in Beaver Creek Village near the ice rink Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Guests can also visit the Beaver Creek Environmental Learning Center at the top of the Cinch Express Lift (#8). The Center is open daily in the winter and provides educational information and visual displays.
