As many who have come before us in search of new opportunities and the best burritos that the USA had to offer, so the Cricket Campus Rail Jam Tour made its way to the southwestern most tip of California, to the beautiful paradise of San Diego. In continuation of our search for the best of collegiate riders, we were led to the 5th stop of our tour where we were introduced to new jib styles and a plethora of beautiful women, as we all would agree, are the two most important aspects of a solid rail jam.

With the help of local radio stations, Fuel TV, and promotion raiding on campus, hundreds of locals, SDSU students, and shredders showed up stoked for a snowboard competition in San Diego. After the snow was blown on, MC Chimpy T gave the go ahead nod, the Fuel TV cameras began rolling, DJ Wiki (the artist formerly known as DJ Gristified) started spinning and the riders dropped in to put on a quality show for the hyped crowd.

The rider plunged themselves off of 25 foot tall scaffolding into a three feature setup. A down rail on the right side, in the middle the infamous down flat down, and the down box on the riders left. Over 30 local riders displayed their best, including stylish front blunts down the 30 foot flat bar a 50-50b/s 180 out on the down box.

The preferred feature was the kink which received major attention in the qualifying heats with a back lip 270 out, a 50-50 backside 180, out as well as a tech 50/50 270 front board all being stomped to give riders the chance to advance to the event finals.

Along with the top caliber riding from the local riders lots of swag from, Clif Bar, Red Bull, AirDrives, Giro, Civil Apparel and with snowboards from Cricket Wireless and Signal Snowboards, the crowd stayed lively throughout the jam.
The competition was stiff with riders from: Active, Volcom, Civil Apparel, Flux Bindings, POW Gloves, Smith, Forecast Snowboards and Academy snowboards all putting their best jib forward trying to win money and boards.
With the top 15 riders advancing to the event finals, the judges closed the down box and the flat bar being closed for the single feature finals. Riders competed feverishly in the finals with front boards, back lips, 180 on 180 off, front blunts, front tails, 50/50 front 360 out just to name a few tricks that went down on the down in the San Diego finals.

Once the smoke had cleared, it was the northwest crew who took the so-cal kids to school in the art of greasin' rails with 3 of the 5 riders advancing to the tour finals in Oregon, also call that state their home.
