Less than 2 weeks to go and the competition is stiff!
March 19th, 2008, North Vancouver BC – One of Canada’s largest Pro-Am Contest is less than 2 weeks away. The Quiksilver Showdown Over the City on Grouse Mountain brings together the best professional and amateur riders from around the world to Vancouver’s backyard playground on March 28th and 29th.
With a cash purse of $20,000, and as an official Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour event, the calibre of athletes has increased. TTR (Ticket to Ride) is the largest snowboard contest body and for the first year, this event is included on the world tour.
“This is, hands down, the biggest snowboard event to hit Vancouver” says Jeff Silcock, Events Manager at Grouse Mountain. “Being selected by the TTR World Tour means this year’s event has attracted even more elite pro riders looking to add extra points to their cache. It is a rare opportunity to showcase this level of talent in Vancouver. The new course on Lower Peak should draw some big crowds as it’s a short walk from the skyride and the views are astounding.”
Confirmed riders include:
Craig Bealieu – Best Overall Rider – 2007 TELUS WSSF
Dave Fortin – posterboy of the 2007 Quiksilver Showdown over the City, 2nd place 2007 WSSF Big Air
Jake Koia – ranked 40th overall on the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour
