Snowbird Extends Season, Opens Little Cloud Lift

SNOWBIRD, UTAH – With more than 11 feet of snow on the ground at mid-mountain, Snowbird announced today it will extend its season into June and possibly beyond.

Snowbird President Bob Bonar said today he feels confident the resort will be able to offer skiing and riding daily through Sunday, May 11, and then Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through June 1 (including Monday, May 26, Memorial Day).

“With last week’s storm and additional precipitation this week it looks like we’ll have plenty of snow for great skiing through the last weekend of May, beginning of June,” said Bonar. “We will continue to offer skiing and riding as long as the conditions are safe, enjoyable and there’s interest.”

Snowbird lifts have run as late as July 4 in two previous seasons. Bonar said this week it is too early to know if that’s a possibility this year.

Previously not scheduled to operate for the remainder of the spring schedule, the Little Cloud chairlift began operating today and will continue to do so for the remainder of the spring schedule along with Peruvian Express, Mineral Basin Express and Peruvian Tunnel. The resort is open for skiing and riding 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Sunday, May 11. Beginning May 16, the hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lift tickets are $59.

The Aerie and Atrium restaurants, both located in the Cliff Lodge, celebrate Mother’s Day with brunches beginning at 9 a.m. in the Aerie and 10:30 a.m. in the Atrium. For reservations call (801) 933-2181.

Spring vacation packages and additional information about operating days and hours are available at snowbird.com.

they will NOT cut a pipe on the upper mountain where we have more or less 190" of snow.. they will not create any sort of park on the upper mountain... in fact, they have never had a good pipe or park period and, they dont care at all.. i have even heard the little midget hippie "maketing/pr manager" utter that they are not concerned about filling chairs.. is that really the point? this place would get so much coverage and would really become a destination for riders prior to heading to hood for the summer..
if they would just put in some basic effort, we wouldnt have a bunch of idiot kids growing up in the park at brighton.. we would be able to farm more real, all around riders here in utah......
this is my favorite place to ride. period. i hold a season pass there and of course, the freeriding is second to none.. even yesterday.. yet, it is very frustrating.....
too bad one of the best places to ride on this planet is run by hippies and skiers................

a burton stash would be amazing here......

second to J.H.

Sorry Silvant,
the birds freeriding is second to Jackson Hole. But both mountains need to figure out the park/pipe thing. I would love a stash at J.H.

it's a shame the bird is the only joint open in utah, the snow or usual ice conditions that plague it through most of the season is a pain in the ass and the place gets tracked like a junkie's arm on a pow day (and "please nobody say some hippie-retarded shit like, 'that's cause you don't know where to go.......bro.").

and regarding the stash; the next burton offering of quasi natural terrain will be at the canyons...or so it appears.

anyways, i better go by the late season pass to the bird.

yet....

hippies and skiers going gay..... weeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
