The Heavenly Flyer Zip Line and South Lake Tahoe Activities Make Heavenly a Perfect Destination for Memorial Day Weekend
Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – May 15, 2008 - Heavenly Mountain Resort will open the Heavenly Gondola for sightseeing and adventure activities – including the new Heavenly Flyer – for the Memorial Day weekend May 23 through May 26, 2008. With travel industry experts saying economic conditions and increasing fuel prices will impact vacation travel this Memorial Day, San Francisco Bay Area residents and Valley residents are lucky to have a world-class destination like Lake Tahoe within easy driving distance.
“Lake Tahoe is incredibly beautiful this time of year and just far enough away to really get that vacation feeling without spending your entire budget on travel,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice president of marketing. “The adventure provided by the Heavenly Gondola and the Heavenly Flyer, the shopping and dining at the Heavenly Village, and the 24-hour nightlife at the casinos, makes the South Shore of Lake Tahoe a spectacular, exciting destination that just happens to be located in the Bay Area’s backyard.”
The Heavenly Gondola will operate Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for sightseeing. The Adventure Peak activities area will operate the Heavenly Flyer zip line ride as well as a brand-new 25-foot-tall, multi-ability climbing wall from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Café Blue on the Observation Deck will be open for drinks and light snacks from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.; as will the Adventure Peak BBQ and the Umbrella Bar at the top of the Gondola.
The Heavenly Flyer ZipRider cable ride at Adventure Peak is the world’s most beautiful and exciting ride. At 3,300 feet long, it is the longest zip line in the continental U.S. Guests can soak in sweeping views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains while they zoom at speeds up to 50-miles-per-hour. The elevated zip line carries flyers a hundred feet above the ground on an 80-second heart-pounding ride from the Launch Pad at the top of Tamarack Express to the Landing Zone just beyond the Gondola station, a vertical drop of 525 feet (roughly the same height as the Space Needle).
The Heavenly Flyer will re-open for summer operations on June 13, 2008
During the Memorial Day holiday weekend Heavenly will unveil the new 25-foot-tall climbing wall that will be located at the Adventure Peak activities area. The new wall offers five different climbing routes that vary in difficulty from beginning to advanced levels. The climbing wall will operate daily during the weekend from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Climbers must be at least 39” tall and weigh at least 45 pounds. Cost for the wall is $10 for ten minutes, plus the cost of a Gondola sightseeing ticket.

Purchase the best season pass value at Lake Tahoe and receive year-round access to Tahoe’s biggest mountain, highest elevation, longest vertical drop, most breath-taking scenery, largest snowmaking and grooming operation, finest tree skiing and riding, and only zip line.
