Words: Binky / Photos: Smokin Jay Quintin

Lake Tahoe, CA - Smokin Jay Quintin opened up the factory while the mountains were still raging to make some custom M.I.P. Smokin Snowboards for the Air Blaster crew last week. We were stoked to have Travis, Jesse, Jonas, and Paul from Air Blaster come by and make their own shreds and see how it's done here at Smokin Snowboards. It was a rad day and everyone had a great time seeing what it takes to make Tahoe's finest snowboard.

hmm...

I saw a video a few days ago with someone with an airblaster board that had a mostly white base with the pill symbol on it. I'll try to find out where I saw it but does anyone know anything about this?

Great Idea

It would be really cool if Smokin Jay allowed people to pay for the experience of making their own custom board. It be much for fulfilling than getting custom graphics from that other really big company.

✠™

Agreed . . . i am big into fixed gear bikes and have wanted to build my own frame for years - just signed up for a course at Witcomb Bicycles.

A custom frame from them would usually be circa £900, but for £1100 you can go on the course, build your own custom frame and take it home with you.

If a snowboard company offered something similar i would be all over it

Ohh and those Airsmokes look fucking rad

Fixed

Nice, Eski! You're a soldier for goin fixed, those boys are gnar by far!

That custom frame program is pretty interesting. A friend up in Reno used to build DH bikes and I've watched them getting made in the metal-working machine. Its pretty damn cool how all the specs for the frame are computed in and then the robot does the rest of the work. I wonder if its a similar process over there?

Plus!

Smokin Jay's factory is in Lake Tahoe, so you could ride your new board right away!

smokin air

i'd be down for a program like that.

... Custom MIP....

yea we are doing a custom MIPro with photos from anyone who sends one in... if you were in tahoe... we could possibly work out an internship where you would be able to work a board off... and if then we would let you do what you want... look for the new Bro-Form Brototypes on tahoe hills near you next year...

....

but you would have to go thru me... and we got a really extensive background test we do... really extensive... we just take a temp intern every now and then and show em the ropes... our way of giving back to young snowboarders that are down for the cause...

✠™ Sh!t i'm thirty . .

so i guess i'd just have to offer you a shit load of cash instead . . but seriously i like what i'm seeing from smokin, keep up the good work, looks to me like your on a roll.

..

Parker knows how to snowboard good.

Nice!!

Hell ya Jay. keep it real. Support the little guy , and dont buy China.
