Windells Spacecraft Sponsor Night Session 2

Spacecraft Night Session Two 1
The Spacecraft Bunny in route to Windell's camp on the Oregon coast

We were off at midnight from Seattle, Duffy, The Bunny and I. We had a few missions to accomplish... the first was driving all night to reach the beach and get a cold clean surf before heading to Windells Camp just short of Mt. Hood OR. We were coming to give a little clinic on screen printing and meet up with our friend Reed who is now the head coach at Windells and was brave enough to fully wrap his car with Spacecraft propaganda in his Ink Monster graphic shop.

Duffy putting in a full day filled with neck tats and the first of many screen print projects.

Duffy was 5 drinks deep when I picked him at his apartment in Seattle, having just left a work dinner with free booze. He was ready to roll, but left his booties behind and was out cold within 15 minutes. This left me to drink so much coffee that I was committed to make the 250 mile drive through the night, arriving on the Oregon coast at 5am. After a check of the waves, we decided on a nap to wait for the tide to come up. I was so tired from driving all night and a little rest sounded good, until Duffy, started snoring like... a medicated old man. No sleep was to be had by me, so surfing was the call. I rallied my delirious co-pilot and off we were for some clean combers. Fish in hand and Duff lagging behind, we surfed for a few hours until we got too hungry to stay and we were off to the 26 in route to Windells.

Head coach Reed, The Bunny and the campers cut up the stickers after drying.

Duff and I spent the day cutting vinyl for the stickers we were going to make with the campers for the first annual Spacecraft screen your own sticker clinic. Prior to our drive my good friend Jamie at Destee Nation printed designs onto film that our intern Jeremy had designed for the project and then he burned some screens for us. So, the screens were ready and all we needed to do was set up and put up some close line to hang the sheets to dry. As Duff stood on my sawhorse, he forgot about gravity and physics, blaming his fall on my sawhorses that were rated for 1000 lbs..

By the time Reed came off the hill with the campers, we were ready to go. A little screen print 101 was given out and the campers fell in line to see what a rabbit was doing with a squeegee and a can of red ink. Each camper was given a few sticker sheets and stood in line to see how stickers were made... outdoor ghetto tech D.I.Y. The campers were stoked and some of them grabbed the squeegee and made their own. Learning happened, stickers were made and neck tats are cool.

Thanks Windells for keeping it about the kids and making one darn fine camp.
