First out of the starting blocks for The Remarkables 2008 season were Matt Armstrong, Pat Toronchuk, Adam Bowcott and Matt Taylor (L-R).
They were amongst other early risers to enjoy a glass of bubbles to start the season in style with Mother Nature playing her part by dishing up a nice, sunny calm day.
The alpine park will offer limited facilities on opening day, and a glass of bubbles courtesy of Lindauer for early risers.
The Remarkables manager Ross Lawrence says good on-trail skiing from Alta and Sugar Bowl chair lifts will give a taste of the alpine atmosphere on offer.
“We’re excited to be up and running. It’s early days yet but we’re looking forward to a great winter. This is a chance for people to come up for a look-see and have a bit of fun in the mountains.”
Five features are up and running in the UP&GO Terrain Park. “There’s a good jib session area ready to go and as more snow falls, more of the park will be opened.”
A conveyor lift will also be open for beginner skiers and riders.
New this year at The Remarkables is The Stash, a Jake Burton concept trail which is set to open on July 26. The Stash at The Remarkables is the first Stash for the Southern Hemisphere and just the third in the world. Check www.thestash.com for details.
Also new are two conveyor lifts for the learners’ area making learning a fun and relaxed experience at The Remarkables. New snowmaking has also been installed across main trails. The conveyor lifts will open as soon as conditions permit.
