This particular thread will be for owners of Compatriots to get together and talk about life, give tuning tips, boast of new tricks completed, post trip reports, complain about their significant others, and hopefully meet others with the same social, mental, and emotional quandaries. Work sucks. Run to the hills!

Thanks a munch, man! Hope all is well in the land of Ire.

I'm waiting for The Guide, aswell

I am SO STOKED to finally have a ride that is just the right size. I think I'm going to go build some homemade tree rails like Lumberjackjibber (check him out at http://www.compatriotsnowboards.com/Vidz/LumberJackJibber.mov) as soon as we get some snow. I'm using last year's executive 156 for that, though. I LOVED that board, but I am moving on to a bigger, wider board.

Thats a good idea-

You should hang that exec up on the wall- it is a Damion Silver ltd edish, you know. How is life in Utar?

Today was another epic day of

Today was another epic day of riding at a local pow pow proving ground called Grand Targhee. One of the few sunny days of the year, my longtime riding buddy and I decided to exit the boundary gates and ride one of our favorite steep couloirs, a moderate yet intimidating descent that some famous amos reportedly hiked back out of while filming in the mid 90's.

After the exhausting hike, I prepared to drop into this near vertical, yet familiar minefield which consisted of a short & steep chute laced with a moderate sized rock drop. After dropping in, I unluckily discovered at highspeed that my first turn was an oilspill of firm ice that sent me into a carousel-like butt toboggan ride down the steep northern face and almost off of this little, yet daunting mandatory air/cliff band. My buddy said he almost pissed his drawls, knowing he could do nothing but watch me slide off into the white abyss. In typical near-death story fashion, I was able to self arrest right before I was scheduled to take a nasty fall off of an ugly cliff. My heart literally skipped several beats as I made an uncomfortably tight turn out of the gravitational grasps of the rocky fall. I had no intentions on making this an energy drink advertisement-worthy descent, and for a conservatively calculated ride like myself, close calls are rarely welcomed. But I’m glad that I escaped unharmed, eager to return tomorrow to quietly re-enter the testing territory. Sometimes snowboarding has a swift cadence, yet it is always pure.
