I used to count the days till winter and the snowfall. Ever since i blew out my ankle in a skate ramp july of 2004, my perception on the winter season has changed dramatically. I used to ride 150 days a year, something like 5 straight seasons. Last season i was able to ride half ass for like 15 days or something, which made me appreciate the sport that i love so much. It has been over a year since surgery, and my ankle is at maybe 70% mobility. My doctor can't help me anymore unless i want to have orthoscopic surgery to clean out my tendinitis and scar tissue. I'm not interested in more surgery, and the only other useful way to help my pain is cortezone shots (i've had one so far). I spent over $1000 alone in physical therapy last winter, only to have my ankle blow out on nothing after i came off a rainbow box and rode out of it.
I have found riding my mountain bike on summit county single track trails with friends has been helping my improvement a whole lot this summer. I am learning that there's more to life that floaty backside 180's over the tables at breck, or pushing cliffs at jackson hole. I am thinking of pursueing cinematographer or vidoegraphy with my friends. I can still ride pretty damn hard, but my table top days and air are done with. So i'm really considering laying some cash flow down for a top of the line digi camera with a nice fish eye lens, we'll see what develops. I used to believe riding was about the biggest better trick, but over the years and many days on the slopes i've come to realize its all about being out there and enjoying the fun with friends.
I'd like to be considered for this blog contest soley because i'm needing a lighter, softer, smaller board for my ankle and the easy cruising park filming days to come. I currently ride the stiffer illuminati hybricon model and have come to find its to much for my ankle and just cruising around. It's still the best board around for speed, powder, and chop, but these days it seems i'm more in need of a lil soft board for the easy retirement pastures that i'm retiring too soon.
I'm sure there's more deserving kids for this board, but damnit if i didn't argue my point somewhat. By the way, snowboard-mag staff is uber shradical!

Sorry about your ankle
I had real ankle problems for a bunch of years. I think at the worst, it effected my riding for two consecutive seasons before I got stiffer boots plus wrapped duct tape around the effected ankle. That helped sqpeed the recovery along. You could try the old Dave Dowg steez- one hardboot, one sorel. Anyhow, thanks for your entry!!
camera bitch
