Dirk Dye @ South Shore Soldiers

This is Dirk Dye at the always fun South Shore Soldiers camp. This is a positive scan from posi/neg 4x5 polaroid film. I was using the film to test exposure for my Sinar F 4x5 camera and got this. Turns out that the developing time of a polaroid depends on the temperature. At room temperature it only takes approxamately 30-45 seconds before you can peel the image. This day was cold so I waited a little longer, let's say a minute and a half. Nope, too cold. I should have just waited 'till I got home. I love the high contrast. The snow is blown out and the filmers are completely black. It is a very graphic image. Photography is a lot like life. Sometimes when you screw up, it sucks bad and other times it works out for you in ways that you hadn't imagined. This photograph, to me, fits into the latter.
