yeah, i agree that burtons probably just doing it because they see its success in rome. but lets be honest, rome isnt the first company to do it, and wont be the last. grenade does the same thing, mission 6, capita. its a pretty popular theme in snowboarding, and will be repeated many more times.
Sure, the whole rebellion thing is the foundation of skate, surf, snow, but now that all three are so 'mainstream' with Burton leading the charge it's pretty weak to boost a campaign from another company. Seriously, Rome has been saying 'corruption of the norm' for five years now, for Burton to start saying 'corrupt conformity' is a pretty lazy choice of words. It's not the first time Burton has boosted an established slogan and tried to make it their own. DC boots 'enjoy the ride', Burton Snowboards ad 'Enjoy the Ride' hmmmmmmmmm.
I don't buy that. I don't see much difference between rome ripping the slogan away from punk in the early 70s and burton ripping a similar slogan from the same source. The solution is that both companies need to come up with better marketing departments and that whole 'DAMN THE MAN' marketing scheme needs to get put into the ground.
Rome may have ripped it off from punk, no arguement there, but for another snowboard company to adopt another snowboard companies marketing campaign is pretty lame. Burton can't think of anything other than something someone has already established? Let's try to be everything to everyone should be Burton's slogan. The point isn't whether or not Rome has an original campaign or not, it's that Burton is using the exact same word/language Rome uses. It's LAME.

LET'S RIP OFF ROME
corruption of conformity, sounds vaguely familiar. oh yeah, rome has a whole marketing campaign based around that concept....
yeah, but lets be honest

Agreed, but those company's have their own marketing campaigns.
