Burton has requested that we embargo the 06 07 pics of their new products until summer.

oh damn

all of those bindings are lookin pretty freakin sick- the CO2's look pretty crazy

c60

last weekend i`ve tryed the c60 bindings from 05\06 seson and i couldn`t find words to describe the feeling i had ...they`re magnificent.
i assume the new ones are the same if not better but one thing is for sure these new bindings look awsome.

crazy sick bindings

woah, when i looked at the c60 and c02 i felt like i was looking at bindings from the future. i think i may need to stick to the p1s. or maybe p1 wingtips

The new highbacks on the C60,

The new highbacks on the C60, CO2, P1 look very fragile at the bottom, looks like it might break without much force... I'm not sure what's the design purpose of them...

highbacks

well the highbacks on thos models have been around for a while, they came out in 01-02on the p1s, its just the "living hinge" they actucall work very well, and are super comfortable

Burton

I think the bindings are good but they could use some room for improvement.

sick ones

I think the freestyle and escape would hold up pretty well they look godd but the freestyle may have som e challanges to overcome.:)

wow you ppl are so demanding!

Burton bindings are the best bindings on the planet. they are the only bindings i feel i wont break. i dont really like burton boards because they are stiffish. but have you ever met or seen anyone break a burton board?? i havent thats for sure.

i have

i split my heelside edge under my binding a couple years ago on an older custom x i had. it cracked right in half. it was kind of a cooky move on my part--i overshot a transition and landed too far back. i tore my mcl so it was a hard fall, but burton boards definately aren't indestructable. i still ride burton boards and bindings cause i don't think anything else compares for what i like to do and i don't really pay much attention to that evil empire talk.

i've heard the hybricon from illuminati rides similar to the custom x. does anyone know anything about that? i've been wanting to pick up one of those boards the last few years, but i always end up picking up a custom x at the end of the season at a local shop that puts it at 50% off every year--ite ends up being cheaper than the illuminati

Is there an improvement?

I like the corrosion of conformity..pigs flying design on the P1 wingtips...but I really like the black carbon look of the 05/06 binding, then any of the options for next year. Does Burton improve their products from year to year...or is it the same basic binding, year after year? I never really have paid much attention to Burtons products, because they have allways been the Big fish. But, I still would love to have bindings that wouldnt leave my friggin foot numb after riding on the chair for 5 mins and not being able to rest my board weight because the 2 plankers decided to crowd my chair. A little tangent there...My regular bindings have hurt the metatarcels behind my pinky toe, and the cap toe looks cumfy!

Also, is there a strict type of riding these bindings are good for..or are they ok for park..and powder days in the trees?

Cartel

the high back looks the same as this years, I wish they would have fixed it, they've been breaking this year

new toe caps

i just noticed that the higher end ones have a new type of toe cap

capstraps

the burton capstraps have been around for a while now. the new capstraps are called SuperCapstraps because they are alot more cusionish than previous years. The name Superstrap came from the burton P1-P1 carbon ankle straps because its like Dr. Scholls on your ankle(very soft and cushiony) they also have grips on the backs of them. i personally like the regular toe strap because i feel like i have more response with the board. the capstraps are awesome though. your foot doesnt cramp and they are really comfy

burton bindings...going downhill?

i've probably put over/around 1500 days on the snow in my lifetime. never once have i had any brand of bindings heel cup break in 2 pieces from the base structure. i had put maybe 50 days on the 2006 medium p1 carbons, and this happened. luckely a lifty on the gondola notices the 2 part break on my biding before i rode and blew it totally out and may have hurt myself.

looking at the 06-07 burton bindgings i fear they will have more of these issues than they expect. they are using less plastic (chinese crap probably) just to get a lighter better feeling response for their team riders (which get as many free pairs of 390 bindings as they want). i love the feel and lightness of the 06 p1's, but if you have to give up that for durability, then fuck that. i pro formed my bidnings this season for like 100$ or somthing, and if i had to pay the actual 390$ i would be pissed right now.

burton said they may not even have replacement bindings for me, and i dont' care if they give me next yrs in oct of 2006, i have at least 3 more spring months of fun in the sun left here in colorado.

long story, i'm reallly saddened by the durablility of the newer burton bidnings, and it looks like they will continue to sacrifice durabillity for performance. if i was a broke kid, there is no way in hell i'd ever pay retail for a pair of 06-07 burton bindgings.

don't feed the monster, look into flux, union, and other companines that are making better products these days because they have to to be competitive.
Shredd on, Shredd off.

!!!!

Burton doesn't make 390's. thats rome

don't feed the monster? flux is owned by a giant auto parts company!

i have had as many days as you on burton bindings and haven't broke anything but a highback here and thereand some ladders. weird huh?

i do feel that Burton is experiencing some quality control issues with everything from gloves to bindings, but i don't feel they are design flaws. do you really think the team would put up with shit breaking constantly while they are trying to get the "shot"? i doubt it

godzilla!

its all about feeding the right monsters and or feeding the little like gremlins (smaller companies) im glad im hearing more people leaning away from the big b. and im still trying to reform some of my friends from them.

////////////

that was a typo, i was implying on the price = 390$ cost/retail for the 06 p1 carbons, i paid 107$ pro form. i'm really just pissed because when i got them, i new they were super ultra soft and non durable, and yeup, i blew them out sometime in A-51 park in keystone not even knowing it or washing out..scary when you can crack your whole heelside support system on a pre surgery ankle your still tryhing to get back to 100%.
burton is going down hill
Shredd on, Shredd off.

p1 carbon

they dont cost $390, try $280

What's better?

I'd rather ride great quality bindings made by a cool Japaneese auto parts company than ride crappy Burton binders from a company owned by greedy snowboarders!!

Listen to Black Sabbath!

Pics are down? that sucks!

Pics are down? that sucks!

Anyways, I actually got to hold and check out the 2007 CO2's the other day. They're light as hell, and the quality seemed good. Curious to know what they'll ride like.

dude

-first of all, Burton P1 carbons 06' are 280$
-second of all, burton p1 carbons heelcups are as strong as hell!!
-i broke flows, solo(1), and a pair of flux bindings, but never in my life have i broke a burton binding. If i did, my ankle would probably shatter before the binding does.
dont get me wrong, they do sacrifice durability for lightness and responce, but Burton has overpassed any snowboard company when it comes to bindings. they are sooo far ahead of everyone else.

Too Much Flex...

I finally switched to Burton Cartels- after many good years w/ my Bent Metals- to check out some new tech (aka, that damn cap strap). First, my Vans boot has never fit all too well into the binding- it works OK, but its already a Med & I'm a chick w/ a decent size foot/boot (considering Vans are pretty bulky)- there's no need to go bigger.

Also, the binding is def a lot heavier than my Bent Metals were and I don't dig the weight now I have distributed around my feet. When you're smaller like me, you really notice it. That new plastic may be lightweight, but there is so damn much of it- along w/ those fancy new caps/straps/backs- that it weighs the whole binder down.

Another thing that bugs me is that the binding pulls up around the heel cup when I dig hard into a toe edge. It also flexes...alot.. and I don't dig on that. My board is pretty stiff/poppy- also considering my weight/size as well- but there is no reason my binding should move that much (and yes, I tighten my base down just fine, thank you. :)).

This is just my opinion from my experiences w/ them. As You Guys noted- its all about personal preference and riding styles when it comes to any piece of equipment/gear. Personally, I think I will prob go back to basic- aka, Bent Metals- again soon. Light, aluminum construction... KISS.

dont go carbon fiber

im sure plenty of others have said it, but stay away from carbon fiber. its snap way to easily. burton is realizing that carbon fiber sucks, as next year there is only one carbon fiber binding: the C60
rest assured, burtons stuff is fine, just dont touch the carbon fiber...

bah

whats the best bindings for the money? as im on a budget

Some options

You'll most likely get many different answers since everyone prefers different brands. I'd recommend Ride, Union or Rome. You should be able to get them pretty cheap since most shops have their items 20-50% off.

best bindings for the money

the best bindings are burton. but Rome, and Agency bindings are really nice. it depends on how much and how hard you ride. if your a hard rider go for Burton. the custom isnt bad if your on a budget. but i would suggest the Burton Mission binding. i wouldnt buy flow because my boot slips out of the bindings and you have to "de-ice" the heelcup becuase ice accumulates on it. they are really a pain in the ass to adjust too

IV BEEN RIDING SOME OLD BURTO
