The view from the hotel window is nice. We are staying in a circular hotel designed kind of like the Guggenheim in NYC with all of the rooms off of one continous ramp. The hotel is pretty nice and they have police officer posted up in the lobby at all times.

The Grand Hotel Torre.

We got up around noon today after watching some of the Superbowl with the NBC crew. Yes, they have the superboowl in Italy- but with Euro ads. Since the Steelers won,(and covered their spread) we got the day off.
We went to lunch today at a small pizzeria here in town with some sweet local flavor. (Like the one eyed badger) And this dish...

I skipped the squid and got the authentic italian pizza.

After lunch we headed up to the local hill. Since we are still feeling the jet lag, we decided to have a mellow day of riding. At the to of the first lift was a small village complete wiith a lift access only hotel a couple of resturants and these lounge chairs.

Every resort should have lounge chairs. It was cool, just to hang out in the sun and watch the British gapers outfits. Zainy hats are big with gapers in Europe too.

Then we headed into the woods for a few slashes of 3 day old powder. Here's another thing about Europe: most of the people stay on the designated trails so there was still pow a few days after the storm. That just would not happen in the US where every inch is tracked by noon.

After a while we stopped by one of the trail side resturant/bars for a cup of coffee. Another cool/different thing about riding in Europe are the ancient mountainside chalets that have been converted into resturants and bars. There must have been a half a dozen of them on the way down the hill.

All in all, a very mellow relaxing day, getting up to speed with the pace of things here in Italy.
