An incredible final in women's SBX. Lindsey Jacobellis got a good start and got into the lead early in the race as Maelle Ricker and Tanja Frieden diced for the SILVER. In the middle part of the track, deep in a turn, Tanja and Maelle contacted and Maelle went flying off course into a snow fence. Lindsey had a commanding lead and went down on a method on the last jump, and went down edging out- all alone out in front. She lost her momentum and Tanja Frieden slipped by for Gold.

WOW!

Man, what a bummer for Lindsey. Just saw an interview with her and Tanja on the news. Too bad. Maybe next time.

///wrap that shit around///

perhaps i am going to sound freakishly stupid when i say this, but i think this method will be a good thing for her career.

jacobellis could of just straight-lined it to win the medal, but she opted to throw a timeless trick that feels so damn good... even if, i guess, you don't land it.

yes, she tried to high style it for the win, but who cares it's just a golden c.d. medal (it looks the same as my john melancamp digitally remastered gold colored one).

whatever, i'll be riding pow tomorrow.

methodical

i think to riders shell be popular but to news folks and regular people shell go out as a "showboater" which is gay. if she was showboating shed go for a 3 or something. she was having fun with it and she says it was helping her make the jump all day.

damn

what a shame.. nice method air tho!

Watched the whole deal...

Saw it all go down on TV last night, and I can't believe how bad she was roasted by the media. Let it go, folks! The first rule of racing: DON'T LOOK BACK! She did look back over the roller before the infamous jump, which threw off of her line. The method wasn't waht did it. Look at her flight path, she drifted too far to her left. Probably got a little cross-rutted off of the lip. It happens.

I'm a little curious to see how this all pans out. It was being treated like she was a disgrace to America. I don't agree. Sure, you can say that she had the Gold medal in the bag, but hey, she was the only American to medal yesterday. Shame on those ice dancers and slalom racers!

The media doesn't understand how to all of us, snowboarding is fun. It's not all about contests and gold medals. And yes, it was a good looking method that I'm sure felt wonderful.

i couldnt believe when i was

i couldnt believe when i was watching...poor lindsey... :/
but i was happy for tanja it was so cute to see her and seth celebrating!! =D

Tough

Disclaimer: I'm not even a tiny bit as good as Lindsey. Well...I suck. But damn, that was still a prematurely overzealous move on her part. And at least be humble enough to admit that you were trying to showboat afterwards. Too much pride, not enough humility.
