i like the bjorn vco-op jacket. but i want to know why no one is making stuff i really want outerwear wise anymore. everybodies stuff is blending together into one big heap. oh well maybe mission six will be really nice next year and make me want to grab some.
i have the BJL jacket in black with orange panels and it pretty sweet. The green/black colorway looks dope though. I took the jacket out for the first time yesterday since it got cold again here in northern NJ, and it has a nice medium weight and should stand up well to a lot of use.
do any companies make ORIGINAL outerwear anymore? i mean, everything looks the same. holden is pretty original, but this year it seems like everyone is biting them. it seems all the companies now want to be whatever is the most popular. originality?
that they're going to start to sell out even more. like mall clothing stores, and i hear they are planning to open their own shops across the us. might as well buy hurley now, cuz that's what volcom is becomming...lame.
Shredd on, Shredd off.
... but what else is there to make????? i see new designs, does no one else? i dont see how snowboard outerwear could get anymore creative and original without getting ridiculous. i like the new jackets
its really a matter of outerwear not looking good. its just that there are very few companies out there with an original (and i mean thier own) style. i think volcom's stuff looks good. im just saying it looks the same as an M6, planet earch, foursquare, etc.
yeah, i guess you're right. but no matter how core some companies may seem, they're still just like any other company, trying to make a buck. so when they see holden doing well, they figure that that style is what most boarders like, so they copy it.
I think its always nice when Jamie Lynn throws down a piece on some fabric. Always Unique, Stylish, O-so-riginal, Beautiful Pieces of... Art. Its always been the 'little' things that make up true style to me. I was always stoked see him represent w/ Sessions. And of course, the beloved Lib/Mervin. Not sure what he's doing art-wise w/ Volcom's new gear now... but there are people out on that big hill like Me that just love the shit.
Three things have meant everything to me when buying gear/equipment- Quality. Function. Style. I get stoked on all the new gear thats out now. I dig the new, super-tuff fabrics w/ the sleek, smooth style. I've always loved earth tones & plaid/pinstripe, plenty of stash pockets (soo NICE) & nice 'n' comfy liners. Most of the new stuff I've seen has had most of these fine amenities.
Its hard to stay Unique in this day... and its that bite that breaks trail towards new styles. Props to all the companies that are throwing down it down- Keep UP the good work. I simply adore it.
just try to use the colorways that are in for that particular year, and that's why it seems that there is nothing original coming out. Remember when poo brown and hot pink was the hot new thing. It semed as though every company had a different spin on it (including Volcom). Last year it was plaid, amongst others. This year it looks as though it's spinnin' back to earth tones. My all time favorite though were Scott E. Wittlake's poo brown and pee yellow bindings. Brilliant!
Kids, don't get in a hissy about how boring outerwear is. I've got a plain orange Airblaster parka and black Volcom Zipilicious pants, and I love them both. Killer. Denim hasn't really changed in like 150 years or however old it is, just the cuts and the washes. What do you expect out of your shred outerwear? I just like my stuff to have a decent fit. I would have gotten an Airblaster Vintersars, but they came out this year instead. Whatever, the parka is sweet. I love Volcom's style, at least for some stuff. Like, their t-shirts? They are sweet. Hurley sucks, don't buy that crap. Sure, everybody wears Volcom, but at least like Holden they are doing a small part to help the environment. I'm all for that. I'm gonna buy an organic tee. I love t-shirts with unique prints and stuff, and Volcom brings that stuff nicely.Outerwear innovation should be focused on warmth, waterproofing, comfort, durabilty, breathability and functionality as a unit first, then style. Style is the easiest to do. Design your cuts, your whatevers you do, but all the other stuff is tech. Style can adapt to tech. I'd rather have a warm jacket than some steezy cold thing.
airblasted.blogspot.com is my blog. It's ugly and lame right now.
