Rome SDS Windells Session 1 and 2 Wrap Up

Words/Photos: Rome SDS

Session 1 and 2 at Windells snowboard camp are all wrapped up, and what a rad way to start off the summer of shred .

During session one the weather could have been better, but it was still such a blast. The shred was still great with Alex Lockwood owning the on hill method-off contest displaying some snazzy styles. In the second session the winner of the Method showdown was unfortunately unavailable for comment due to getting a bit broken off the next day. Actually, with all the skating, shredding and shenanigans during the second session, I think everyone earned a few well deserved lumps.

The Rome SDS Magic Bus Lands in Mammoth

After a long time on the road, a bunch of fun days shredding with riders from Seattle to Tahoe, guitar sessions, a few mishaps with starter motors and baseball bats, the Magic Bus and its unkempt crew of inhabitants rolled into Mammoth Mountain on Monday for the final stop of the tour. The road’s been long, and will be missed, but it was nice to post up for a few days without anywhere to go.

The Rome SDS Magic Bus Stops at Kingvale

Late last week, the Magic Bus finished up the sessions at Sierra-at-Tahoe and headed back to the north side of the lake and up Donner Pass to Kingvale. Kingvale is a true rider owned resort that caters to the park needs of shred from all over Tahoe area. The Kingvale crew rolled out the carpet for us and had the park and some key features dialed. They opened up to let the public in for the day and crowds came in strong. With about 50+ riders showing up to shred the park with the Rome team, hang out in the Magic Bus and enjoy some BBQ, it was a great session and the best stop yet. A big thanks to the folks at Sierra-at-Tahoe and Day, Durst and the crew at Kingvale for letting us come by.

Rome SDS Magic Bus Tour Day 2, 3 and 4

Words/Photos: Rome SDS

Mt. Hood Meadows, The Road and Sierra-at-Tahoe

The Magic Bus rolled on last weekend with stops at Mt. Hood Meadows, Windells, and of course a session in downtown Government Camp. After a ton of snow all season, Meadows turned from winter to spring for the weekend, so the riders got to have a super warm-weather spring park mission. We had some afternoon hangs in the parking lot at the bus and all the local shreds came out to ride with the Rome crew. After the riding we headed back to Windells for all night skate sessions at BOB—Windells indoor park. Thanks to Mike Palino from Meadows and Ryan from Windells for letting us post up at camp.

The Rome SDS Magic Bus Tour: Day 1

With a little luck from Mother Nature we got set up with some amazing weather yesterday. As the bus rolled into the Summit-at-Snoqualmie, the crew got ready for its first day of shred.

The Rome SDS Magic Bus Gets Painted

Before

4.25.2008 - Well, it snowed yesterday up at Snoqualmie, so the mystical woods were a little too wet for hand painting Rome’s new Magic Bus.

So the crew found a utility shed on the mountain and pulled the new rig inside.

With brushes, rollers and spray cans in hand, Joel, Seth, Casey and Dirty Joel had fun bringing the Magic Bus to life. Today it makes its first stop at Snoqualmie for the Shred With Rome Session.

4.24.2008 - Today, somewhere in the mystical woods near Snoqualmie, the Magic Bus getting its new paint job at the hands of Rome designer Joel Brinson, Portland gallery co-owner Seth Neefus, his brother Casey, Dirty Joel, and Runke.
Friday, April 25th at Summit at Snoqualmie, the first Shred With Rome Session will go down at 4:00 in the Summit West parking lot.
A 1980s short bus that made its way down from AK recently? Check.
A hand-painting session on the bus by Rome artists and riders? Check.
A trip to Goodwill to outfit the bus with couches, bean-bag chairs and hammocks? Check.
The birth of the Rome Magic Bus? Check.
A crew of riders who don’t mind smelling each other for ten days? Check.

Sunday Sunday Sunday! A day typically reserved for church and coliseum events that will sell you the whole seat when you will only need the edge, turned out to be a great time to Amp the Stoke, with a Rome SDS Stoken.

Greeted with a high overcast sky and a massive snow pack, Jeff and his park crew had some rad features set-up.

Rome SDS Stoken at 7 Springs in PA

This past Saturday was the Rome Stoken event at 7 Springs in western PA. The Stoken is always a good time because it brings out the true nature of snowboarding, to make the best of what you have. There was some concern since 7 Springs does such a good job at making fun terrain parks, that the riders would be spoiled…but this was definitely not the case. This crew had a ton of heart and didn’t need much schooling.
