Flow Amateurs Strike Gold

Flow Jr. ChampionshipsPetja and Sarka at the Flow Team shoot in Lake Tahoe, CA

SAN CLEMENTE, CA – April 19 2008 - The Flow Team continues to up the ante on their list of ace riders with a bumper crop of new talent. Flow amateur’s Petja Piiroinen and Sarka Pancochova struck gold at the 2008 World Junior Championships in Italy winning the big air titles for both the men and women. Petja is quickly taking after his famous brother Peetu who most recently took home the overall Burton Global Series title this season. Sarka who hails from Czech is quietly throwing down backside 720’s for the ladies and is one of the promising up and coming females on the circuit. Flow is “stoked to have not just one, but TWO World Jr. Champs on its team of talented riders”.

The accomplishments of Petja and Sarka add to an already incredible season of Flow Team exposure. This pack of A-list riders are killin’ it in magazine cover shots, web coverage, contest circuits and film parts. To name just a few, Antti Autti landed the cover of TransWorld Snowboarding Magazine along with a full-length interview while fellow Finn, Risto Mattila took 3rd overall in the TTR rankings for this season. Also, both Antti and Risto have been filming with the Northern Scrapbook crew.

FLOW recognizes that the progression of women’s snowboarding has come a long way. For three years in a row, the FLOW Myriad women’s specific snowboard has taken the gold in craftsmanship to the next level. Nothing has been compromised or overlooked, just tweaked a little for the female frame allowing the most aggressive of women riders to go BIG. But now it’s time to give something back to the women who ride it. FLOW is proud to announce the 08/09 women’s Myriad snowboard in partnership with the Boarding For Breast Cancer foundation.

Flow Lago ASEC

For the second consecutive winter season, FLOW snowboarding introduces an exclusive line of signature series snowboards inspired by their team of pro riders. This year, Scotty Lago threw out an idea that was sparked by his views of growing up in the shadow of the Seabrook, NH nuclear power plant. His Signature Series “Quantum” snowboard graphic features a spin on the “toxic avenger” that not only raises awareness about the pollution going on in his back yard, but also gives back to an organization called the Action Sports Environmental Coalition (A.S.E.C).

Antti Autti Wins the 2008 Toyota Big Air

Flow Antti PR

The Toyota Big air is one of the added spectacles to the Sapporo International Ice Carving Festival. The city center of Sapporo is filled with massive piles of snow that are carved into the most intricate ice sculptures creating an artificial winter wonderland. The Toyota Big air is located a short ways out side of the city center in an old Olympic stadium. Like the ice sculptors the Toyota big air jump is an equally impressive man made work of art. This year the scaffolding stadium jump of the Toyota Big Air was given its first major face lift in years. The jump was increased in size to try to grow to accommodate the level of today's riding.

Flow Team Drops in on New Zealand

Photo: Flow Snowboards

You never want to be put in a position where you could set yourself up for failure, but this is the exact position the FLOW Team found themselves in during early September of 2007. To identify the situation a bit, it’s kind of like putting 1,000 dollars down on RED at the Roulette table. With all hopes of doubling up, you might fall flat on your face with 1,000 less to account for your attempts. Maybe it could be compared to a Military mission. For example, going into battle with not enough ammo and men. Or a million hand grenades with no long-range firepower. Whichever you choose, the FLOW Team was in for a real “Do or Die” situation.

The jib course consisted of two features, a square down rail and a down box, with snow/ice rink shavings imported from the South Lake Tahoe's Ice Rink Zamboni. With a turnout of fortynine riders and plenty of on lookers we were ready for anything.
