Nikita Launches New Blog Site

Who can disagree that media has changed drastically over the years and with it the face of snowboarding? No longer do we have to go to an event to get instant results, glue ourselves to the TV hoping that the news will cover the latest comps or keep our antsy fingers distracted until the newest subscription is delivered to our doorstep.

Most recently blogs have introduced immediate access to the happenings in the snow industry. Click on a goggle blog and see the newest frame or click on an outerwear blog and get updates on the newest cuts and fabric. Go ahead and click on a board company’s blog and get the lowdown on their team’s day-to-day. Everything from rails, jumps, backcountry, competitions to driving stories, stuck-at-the-airport-again dramas and photos at the bar are blogged about. It’s all accessible, the mundane to the exciting.

At last year's Nikita Chickita Ana Rumiha competed and made it to the women's finals, narrowly missing out on a podium place, finishing 4th. This year the judges all confirmed she was the clear winner, busting out some consistent and stylish runs. Her final run comprised a backside 180, frontside 360 indy and she was the only girl who bonked the tree with a nice frontside 180, finishing off with a frontside 360 on the wall. She claimed 1st place, 1,000 Euros prize money and the coveted one-year Nikita contract.

Nikita is proud to announce the addition of Clair Bidez to its snowboard team. Clair has been riding strong all season, with podium finishes at the Grand Prix, the Jeep King of the Mountain series and a spot in the Winter X Games.

The 21-year-old Colorado native burst on to the scene when she was crowned Junior World Champion in 2006. Although she spent the ’07 season out with injury, Clair returned to the halfpipe with a vengeance, placing 5th at the Vans Cup in 2007, her first event back. Then in the summer of ’07, she took best trick at the Abominable Snow Jam with a perfect frontside 900 and 3rd in the event overall.

The Nikita Chickita is one of the only all-girls amateur events in the world, and between the competitor turnout and the super cooperative nature of the weather, it’s pretty clear that girls are ready for many more of their own events and mother nature agrees. Despite the busy contest weekend, girls from around the country came out to support the Nikita Chickita USA and the result was a very fun day in the California sun on February 9, 2008.

In its third year in the United States, the Nikita Chickita is one of the few competitions out there just for the amateur ladies. No more battling it out with the boys at your home mountain, this is your chance to be recognized as the shred star you really are! The competition is open to anyone, and is sure to bring out some new faces to push the level of girls’ riding. Past winners have included Marie France-Roy, Iris Lazzereschi, Erin Comstock and Bev Vuilleumier, and this year the podium is open for the next big thing. Perhaps you could be the next Natasza Zurek or Torah Bright!

Nikita Coast-to-Coast Introducing the Summer ’08 Line

Nikita debuted its Spring/Summer ’08 line on the fashionable streets of NYC July 10-12, 2007 and then brought things west for a Pool Party in Los Angeles. The festivities included fashion shows, which in NYC featured some unlikely models. Nikita took advantage of Myspace in its model search, to find regular girls who actually support the brand.

“The goal was to involve the consumers more in what we do,” Nikita Marketing Director Josh Chauvet said. “We wanted to reach out and get the kids that are fans of our products more involved in the actual business. We got a great response and ended up using two of the girls.”
