Words: funnerprojects

Mt Hood Meadows is a fun ski resort located about 45min-1hr east of Portland, Oregon. Filmer Jeremy Dubs brought snowboarders Dan Sandberg, Nick Ennen, and Joel Fuquay out to shred around the mountain, slash through some powdery trees, and pat down a jump. We took out the Vholdr Contour HD 720p camera to get some followcam shots and check out the snow conditions at the mountain on Jan 18, 2010.

Yesterday was the third year of the "Dirksen Derby", and it went well. Hosted by Josh Dirksen this event was started to raise money and awareness for Tyler Eklund.
Tyler suffered a serious snowboard injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. For more info on Tyler's story you can check out this Facebook page.
Not only a fun snowboard event but some good turns as well. Here are a few photos from the day. This event keeps growing every year, you should come check it out next season.
Plenty of snow on the way, so check out Mt. Bachelor for some quality Christmas cheer!

Mt. Baker Opens November 12th

Posted on November 11 2009 at 09:45pm by Press Release

Baker_nov11_opening.jpg

Wow - this is quite the storm cycle we're sitting in! Mt. Baker received 40 inches of new snow in the past 3 days, much more than anticipated, and forecasts look great for more snow this week. Freezing levels are expected to drop to around 1,500 feet with possibly a foot of new snow to fall on Friday. It could be one of the best opening days in years!

We will be in full operation out of both base areas for Thursday and Friday from 9:00 - 3:30 with all chairlifts running, but will still have midweek rates in effect ($39.50 adult ticket, includes tax!) Due to the huge amount of snow we've received in the last 24 hours, there will most likely be a delayed opening on Pan Dome Thursday to allow significant avalanche control work to be done.

Neon & Spandex Run Rampant on 80's Day

Posted on April 27 2009 at 10:18am by Press Release

Seattle, WA – April 23, 2009 – Most of the kids riding may have not even been born in the decade, but 80’s clothes and style were all over the hill as Gromfest held an “Unofficial 80’s Day” at the Summit at Snoqualmie, Saturday, April 18th.

In what Gromfest is calling a “social experiment,” the theme day was not officially announced or publicized, but rather spread by word of mouth. Gromfest started by just telling its Team Riders and then they let their friends know, who let their friends know, and you get the idea from there. The Seattle branch of the Burton Chill Program even got a few of their volunteers involved and in the spirit of wearing neon colors and spandex.

Mt. Bachelor Gets a Miracle March

Posted on March 28 2009 at 10:26pm by Exile

Dark side of Mt Bachelor, wish you were here!

Words: Aaron Hanlon / Photos: Aaron Hanlon & Tony Iorio

I will say without a doubt that this miracle month of March has been our best of the season. We have had amazing snowfall with Utah like pow. It has snowed almost the entire month with just enough weather breaks to shred the top and then it gets buried again. It's been storm riding, blue bird, storm riding, blue bird, ....... Looks like we are going to keep it up as it is snowing at the moment and set to take us on into April. All I can say to the folks out there that want to get that last trip in is think NW. We have it good!
