Squaw Valley 2008/09 Winter Season Passes On Sale

Purchase by July 15 for Best Rate

Best Deal: Purchase by June 15 for Free Cable Car Rides All Summer

[Squaw Valley USA] May 22, 2008- Squaw Valley USA is reminding skiers and snowboarders that July 15, 2008 marks the first deadline for early-purchase discounts on Squaw Valley winter season passes. The second deadline for reduced rate passes is September 1, 2008, after which time the passes are full price.

The Squaw Valley pass provides season-long access to some of the most sought-after terrain in the world. With six peaks, 16 open bowls, new state-of-the-art terrain parks, and acres of scenic mountaintop beginner slopes accessed via 34 lifts (uphill capacity: 49,000 people/hour), there is no wonder why Squaw Valley is the West Coast's favorite winter playground. Squaw’s expansive terrain and lift network, and convenient slopeside parking eliminate the hassles common to ski resorts; Squaw Valley skiers and riders spend less time commuting from the parking lot to the lifts, less time waiting in lift lines, less time combating crowds on congested slopes and terrain parks, and they spend more time skiing and riding.

The Heavenly Flyer Zip Line and South Lake Tahoe Activities Make Heavenly a Perfect Destination for Memorial Day Weekend

Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – May 15, 2008 - Heavenly Mountain Resort will open the Heavenly Gondola for sightseeing and adventure activities – including the new Heavenly Flyer – for the Memorial Day weekend May 23 through May 26, 2008. With travel industry experts saying economic conditions and increasing fuel prices will impact vacation travel this Memorial Day, San Francisco Bay Area residents and Valley residents are lucky to have a world-class destination like Lake Tahoe within easy driving distance.

“Lake Tahoe is incredibly beautiful this time of year and just far enough away to really get that vacation feeling without spending your entire budget on travel,” said John Wagnon, Heavenly’s vice president of marketing. “The adventure provided by the Heavenly Gondola and the Heavenly Flyer, the shopping and dining at the Heavenly Village, and the 24-hour nightlife at the casinos, makes the South Shore of Lake Tahoe a spectacular, exciting destination that just happens to be located in the Bay Area’s backyard.”

SUPERPOST™: Mammoth's 3rd Annual West Coast Invitational

“How does it feel Chas to win one bizzillion dollars in a year?”

Words by Tawnya Schultz/ Pics by Binky

First off I must apologize for slacking and not having a post up sooner. I know; it’s not like me or us at all. Here’s the thing. Something so random happened this weekend at the West Coast Invitational after party while Talib Kweli was performing on stage. While Pancho was holding my camera and showing me a “memory card full” message since we had taken more than 100 photos that night some crazy guy jumped on stage attempting to stage dive. Well literally within a split second security grabbed the dude and bro went flying off the stage landing directly on Pancho who’s like half this guy’s size. Anyway Pancho somehow survived but my camera did not. It went flying as well vanishing within seconds. So I’m putting the word out. Someone has my Canon digi cam with tons of rail jam and Talib Kweli party photos. We pulled some pics together for ya though, courtesy of Binky, and here’s a brief rundown of what went down at this year’s W.C.I. in Mammoth Lakes, CA.

The sweet ass park set up by Day, Jay and the Kingvale crew.

Words/Photos: Binky

The third and final Sunset Showdown of the inaugural season of Kingvale Terrain Project was another great success with a bunch of kids coming out to shred the sick park to earn some cash and maybe even a new board or two. This week Shawn Durst decided to have a high ollie contest that kinda turned into a hippie hop contest which turned out to be so much fun as everyone was taking a stab at the high bar. A bunch of folks came out like Jimi Tomer, Lane Knaack, Shawn Durst, Ben Rice, June B., and even Nico Droz was in town for a few days filming on some ridiculously sick log drops and cliffs higher up on the hill.

With a huge crowd of folks and the beer flowing at The Mont Bleu Hotel Casino, the Heavenly Lake Tahoe Jackpot Final and the first Soldiers Rail Assault was jam packed with banger tricks and some heavy slams. The setup built by Rob Guistina was super fun as the kids who qualified for the Jackpot final throughout the year threw down hard for big cash money, and afterwards Southshore Soldier Jimmy Halopoff gave a bunch of cash away to local pros during the Soldiers Rail Assault. With tons of free giveaways and a raffle with over two grand in gear, the crowd at the Mont Bleu was stoked to be there and see some sick shredding.

The Rope tow was super busy today... Great session at Kingvale

Words/Photos: Binky

This Friday, Day Franzen and the Boys from Kingvale will be holding the first of three Showdowns at Sunset at the Kingvale Terrain Project in Soda Springs Ca. So before they tear down the park for a brand new one for the jam contest, we decided to go up and have a session in their sick snowboard only park. These guys work tirelessly for the never ending pursuit of the shred. Owned and operated by snowboarders and frequented by some of the sickest snowboarders in the industry, Kingvale Terrain Project has one of the best things going right now for snowboarding and has plenty of snow for an extended ride into spring. Check out todays shred with Shawn Durst, Lane Knaack, The Midget Mafia, Niko Cioffi, Max Weinberger, and a whole bunch of boys with a few girls. One of 'em was way better than me... I'll admit it.
