Girdwood, Alaska –November 15, 2007 – With the 130 inches that fell since November 1, Alyeska Resort mountain crews have been hard at work preparing the upper-mountain for the first opening of the 2007-2008 season. The upper mountain boasts 84 inches of snow pack, while midway has 48 inches, and the base has 22 inches.

Last season Alyeska Resort broke an all-time record with over 283” of snow in the month of December alone. The final snowfall count for the 2006-07 season was 668” making Alyeska Resort one of the few resort to boast over 600” of annual snow.

The early heavy snowfall Alyeska Ski Area has received has created a flurry of activities on the mountain in the past week. Preparations have included extensive avalanche mitigation, prior to the finishing touches of grooming and signage to ensure safety of the guests.

Future Expansion Plans for Alyeska Resort

GIRDWOOD, AK – February 23, 2007 it has been a busy 75 days since John Byrne III purchased Alyeska Resort. Saturday night, Mr. Byrne unveiled his plans for the future expansion of Alyeska Resort at the annual Girdwood 2020 dinner.

Mr. Byrne and his management team have spent every waking moment working with the product from snowmaking and snow safety crews getting the resort open to working through each and every restaurant menu item. Mr. Byrne realized early on from a planning point of view there are two main objectives, to make over the existing Alyeska Resort master plan, and to develop a conceptual master plan for expansion into Winner Creek. “Each objective with the goal of transforming Girdwood into the four season resort we all believe it is capable of,” comments Mr. Byrne.
