So just last week Utah got nailed with yet another snow dumping about 10 to 12 inches in the Wasatch range. Zach Seibert and Infamous Pouch joined me to do a bit of shredding and some serious Powder Snowskating. ( This is where the “No Boarders” got there idea from, I am convinced of it. I have had this thing for about 5 or 6 years now and it has been one of the better toys I have ever owned. We headed out in search of some Pow and we found more than our fair share for sure.

Well, Spring is coming in Hot here in Utah, we received about 8-10 inches of snow a couple days on top of about 2” of Crust. Jason Legge, Zach Seibert and myself still decided to go out and try and find some stuff to mess around on. First jump we got to was pretty much total bust as the snow was super shitty and I nearly totaled my sled into a forest of extremely Sappy trees. We then found this rock feature that was pretty cool, big air to flat-non-pow landing. Sweet huh….? Needless to say both guys got some tricks and we made it for home, not before stopping to sesh this little tree pillow jump which Legge crashed on and anti undies Seibert smashed his gems on.

Who would think that with the season Utah had last year that this year we would have one of the better winters and springs I have ever had. Powder Mountain is a hidden gem. It has a very Mom and Pop feel to it as it only has one high speed quad, which is perfect as the terrain from that chair seems to be way more mellow and sucks the crowds to it and leaves the steeper deeper terrain to the rest. When I say crowds, I should be saying lack there of. I have now been there a few times and it seems that it is pretty typical that the only tracks you see are your own.

Shame on Rossignol for Signing Chad and Kyle?

Words/Photo: Alex Pashley

So a couple days ago Chad and Kyle rolled into Park City to meet the whole crew and to check out the Mountain Center. We did the usual meet and greet followed up by the stock meeting with the snowboard department as well as local shreds, Wyatt Caldwell and Drew Fuller to discuss future product. The next day we went to breakfast and then came upon this photo opp..

This is what you get when you build a great new building and the construction company you contract out to build that building does not use UNION WORKERS to put up the drywall. They even hand out flyers with a rat eating the American flag. It is really pretty amazing. Reminds me of SIA actually….

Rossignol Snowboards is Pleased to Announce the Signing of Chad Otterstrom and Kyle Clancy

Chad Otterstrom originally from Minnesota now holding down Breckenridge, Colorado has been a staple name in snowboarding. From the Breck pipe to the Whistler Backcountry, Chad does it all. “I have known Chad for a while now, and have seen how hard he works as an athlete. I think that there is a lot that Chad has not done yet and am glad to be a part of his progression.” Stated Alex Pashley (Rossi TM)

Kyle Clancy has been hard at work the last couple years working on his movie project (Mongo-Pro) as well. Kyle now calls Jackson Hole, Wyoming home and is more stoked than ever to get back after it. Kyle needs no hype, he lets his riding do the talking. His last part in Mongo’s movie is just a taste of what is to come. “Kyle will be an integral part of our team, he is based about 4 an a half hours from our office and has the strong fluid style that I feel snowboarding has started to lack. I think that we are about to see a lot more of Kyle.” Commented Pashley.

The Rossi Sales Meeting just went down and the whole crew of new shreds hit the streets of PC for some good times with the whole Rossi Sales Force. Following the meeting we were able to put together a Level One Avy Class for the crew. In attendance were: John Jackson, Wyatt Caldwell, Drew Fuller, Recent addition Doran Laybourn and Film guru Jared Slater. Kyle Clancy even made a camio for a couple days. The course was taught by TGR Lead Guide Jim Conway and Author of Avalanche Terrain Bruce Tremper. We spent one day in class going through everything from Slab Avy’s to Faceted snow. The second day was spent on hill digging pits, mock rescues, and terrain management. The course was amazing and I am stoked that we were able to take advantage of this. Big shout out to Jim Conway and crew.

Winners of the Jeremy Jones Boot and Binding

Jeremy Jones

Last month SNOWBOARD and Rossignol Snowboards teamed up to give away a brand new 06/07 Jeremy Jones Pro Model Snowboard!

The contest was to write a blog about the scariest line you've ever done, and what it meant to you. And the winner was hand picked by Mr. Jones himself! That's right, Jeremy Jones read all the entries and judged the best story to win the prize. This was the winning entry, and what Jeremy had to say about it:

"Here is the winner. I have a soft spot for Tuckerman's. It is the first time I saw what above "tree line" actualy looked like. I freaked out when I saw. Even today a when I see photos of it I am amazed by how steep it is and how sick the terrain is. It is legit backcountry riding and right in the middle of New England. Enjoy the board SBC. Hopefully you can give it a go down the Headwall.

Cheers, Jeremy"

SBC was stoked to win the board, and actually ended up donating it to charity! After Jeremy selected the winner of the snowboard, we held a poll to determine 2nd and 3rd. The 2nd place winner receives a pair of Rossignol Boots and the 3rd place winner receives Rossignol bindings. The votes are in, and here and the winners:

GNUrider02 took 2nd and wins the Jermey Jones boot!

kooch e san came in 3rd and takes home the Jeremy Jones binding!
