Just Another Day In The Hood

We recently went up to Mt. Hood the other day. Just to enjoy the fresh air out of the city in Portland. They have some amazing views up on the hill, you can see clear down to Government camp easily, and sometimes even Portland if there are no clouds in the way.

So we started the night off the way we normally do while filming by heading over to the local liquor store. However we decided that this time we felt like hanging around there and shooting a couple scenes.

Luckily the staff there is cool as hell and let us stay there way past closing time. I think we were filming until around 3:00 AM before the cops showed up to check out an anonymous tip that there were a bunch of long hair punks knocking the place off.

THE MAKING OF THE BONED AGE: The Blue Torpedo

So the first things first. If you haven't seen the movie The Stoned Age go out right now and rent it or better yet steal it from one of your friends who owns it. If you have never seen that movie nothing that you are about to read or see will make any relative sense whatsoever. With that being said and now that we are all on the same page, we are all on the same page right? You did watch the movie? Please tell me you watched the movie. Because if you didn't and continue to read on a Gnarly Eyeball is going to blow out of your computer screen and shoot gnarly green laser beams up your butt. It hurts, I know from experience. Anyway without having the Blue Torpedo you don't have shit for making even a close attempt at making this movie right. So that was our first goal. Luckily we live in Oregon land of old and beaten down cars. It took only a couple of days to find an exact replica of the make and model.

In its 4th year Grenade Games has turned into quite the spectacle so much so that the entire police force was called out in attempts to rain on our parade. Well there’s only one way to say it and nobody better to quote in this situation than N.W.A.; “Fuck the police.” There are serious crimes taking place, people missing, rapists lingering the streets and the city decides to place all of its energy on a bunch of alleged criminal snowboarders who are simply looking to enjoy the mountains; and so what, maybe a little greenery, but honestly is that stuff seriously still illegal? It’s a lose lose situation and it was a conspiracy in fact.

4th Annual Grenade Games at June Mountain

Grenade Games 2008

Do you enjoy sunshine, fresh cut jumps and smoking pipe jams? Have you ever had the urge to ride a bull no handed or even race at breakneck speed in a Chinese Eyed Downhill? Are you a connoisseur of fine music and enjoy to see it performed by the sophisticated groups that have made it in the first place? If you have answered yes to any of these questions you may be a Radical Dude or Dudette and in that case you are invited to the 4th Annual Grenade Games in scenic June Lake, California on April 19th & 20th to really find out if you are all things dudely.

Grenade Games 4 Return to June Mountain

Grenade Games 2008

A way out west there is a group of Radical Dudes, people called them the Grenade Crew. About every time this year, usually around the end of April they get together and have a little Shindig called the "Grenade Games". Reckon it's been about three years going on four they've been doing this. Usually moving place to place, this year I heard they're bringing her back to her birthplace at June Mountain, California. Given'er 2 days of fun celebrating snowboarding in the sun. That starts Saturday, April 19th and continues on through Sunday, April 20th for those of you interested in that sort of thing. It's gonna be bout $30.00 bucks to get you on hill or $50.00 for both days.

2008-03-20 - It all started on a Friday. This was no ordinary Friday at Grenade, this Friday we closing our doors, turning off our phones, gassing up our trucks and loading them with supplies. We needed help to drive to Wyoming overnight after finding out there was a terrorist weather pattern heading towards the Wyoming/Idaho area. So I hired mercenaries, Sketchy D and Grenade's "John Wayne", Brian Regis, they were more than eager to step up to the mission; battling the deep snow and harsh driving conditions. Once we arrived we rendezvoused with another platoon that were a short jaunt behind our war party. We knew things were going to get heavy when Sgt. Slater himself arrived with his new Super HD09 16mm Assault Cam packed with double mags and 400' of firepower per clip. We scouted a place to set up camp near the action. We needed to rest for the shredding ahead.
