For the last session of the summer Head Coach Reed Silberman chose camper Teo to take the cake on his “Camper of the Session” award. “Teo had a great attitude, was ultra stoked on camp, and did anything possible to have a good time”. Teo takes home a Dakine/Windells Mission backpack for his positive efforts. We hope to see him at Windells next summer!

Dakine/Windells Spin To Win Contest

For our final contest of the summer Head Coach Reed Silberman and I decided what better way to go out with a bang then the old Spin To Win contest. Every time we join together to get a contest going it always turns out funny.

The kids decided to hit a jump with a 5 foot deck and huck themselves as hard as possible. Some pretty sweet 5’s and 7's were getting thrown all in a distance or around ten feet! When we weren’t laughing at how much snow was getting deposited in peoples snow pants, Reed, Katiah and the other coaches were throwing some pretty funny tricks aswell.

Dakine/Windells Backpack Contest

The idea behind this prize is to give a Dakine/Windells backpack away to a camper who has the best attitude at camp. These campers take full advantage of the amazing parts of Windells snowboard camp from the on-hill facilities to one of the best campus on the planet.

Windells session 6 "Head Coach Reed's, camper of the session" award goes to Nolan Roe, 14. Nolan was chosen because this camper was always pumped, and willing to learn anything his coach was willing to teach. He had an extremely positive attitude especially when he was hiking the pipe. Nolan is an awesome kid. Congrats Nolan!!

Dakine Sponsor Night At Windells

Session four’s Dakine sponsor night was the funniest so far by a long shot! Counselor Kerie decided we should do a pie throwing contest for Dakine gear. My reaction was “I will be there early!”. I could give you a play by play, but the photos speak for themselves.

Dakine x Windells Backpack Contest

Dakine and Windells have partnered up once again to give away a free Windells/Dakine backpack every session to the camper that shows the best attitude and positivity around Windells.

This session Head coach Reed Silberman picks a winner!

“This campers name is Camper Quincy. She had a super positive attitude, embraced everything camp had to offer and participated in tons of activities. Plus she learned a bunch of tricks including a backflip. She is smiles everytime I see her.”

Session Four was another amazing week here on Mt. Hood. This week head coach Reed and I chose the Windells box to have the Dakine contest on. Last weeks hand plant contest was a blast, but the box contest was insane because so many kids were trying to get after it!

I’ve been on Mt. Hood for my entire lifespan, so summer snowboard camps are in my blood. From the early days of U.S.S.T.C., to presently being around Windells snowboard camp I have experienced a lot of what camps are like. So when Dakine gave me the opportunity to come and visit Camp of Champions I was all in.

Joining me were Dakine snowboarders and Mt. Hood locals turned Canadian Nick Dirks, Johnnie Paxson, and Corey Noble. As we strolled into Whistler after a long 8-hour drive we pulled into our condos and prepared to shred the following day.

Dakine and Windells have partnered up to create the “Dakine Handplant Contest” for campers visiting Mt. Hood this summer. The format was of course the best possible handplant/most excited camper, who wins a free backpack from Dakine. The idea being to get as many campers as possible to try to learn how to do handplants and experience a good session with product on the line.

Every year summer camp gets better and better. This summer is no exception especially since there in more snow then summer camps have seen in years. So as session number two got under way good times were had and good shredding was done.

New head digger Jason Legge and his crew built some amazing features and utilized the amount of snow pack by shaping some mega sized jumps, and an impressive park. The rail features have also been bumped up with the help from Red Bull with some impressive new jibs, rails and more.

Summer is in full effect and shredder’s from all over the country came to Windells to get their well needed fix. With the overwhelming amount of snowfall here in Oregon this winter, things were interesting to say the least.

Due to some weather days I was unable to get up to the mountain for more than one day. However the day I did cruise up was on point. The public park was on fire and taking laps in June is where it’s at. Rome’s/Dakine’s Johnnie Paxson joined up with me to get in some runs.
